With Sanders Coaches, nobody gets left behind. Many of our coaches are capable of carrying up to six fixed wheelchairs, all safely lifted and secured within the coach. Our drivers are specifically trained in the use of lifting equipment , which is scrupulously maintained and regularly tested in line with LOLER guidance.
How does it work?
- Our coaches are fitted with an electronic lifting device, usually located within the luggage lockers of the coach. The lift is controlled by a trained driver, who will bring it down to ground level so that the wheelchair use can position themselves onto the platform.
- Once secure, the wheelchair lift raises to coach floor level allowing the passengers to move into the main coach.
- With removable passenger seats, there is enough room for the wheelchair user to sit within the coach, where their chair is safely secured to the floor using straps and mounts. A seatbelt unit is mounted to the floor near the wheelchair users to prevent movement.
Smaller and larger groups
- For smaller groups our handy 19 seat Mercedes Benz minibus, with space for one wheelchair, or our Yutong midicoaches, with space for up to six fixed wheelchairs are ideal. Both offer the same luxuries and conveniences of our larger coaches.
- For the larger group, such as school or education groups, consider our 72 seat coaches or 85 seat double deck buses.
