Tap on, Tap off - The easy way to pay

Watch savings roll in with Tap on Tap Off, our new smart contactless ticketing system. The more you tap, the more you'll save!

As part of a Norfolk County Council led initiative, funded by the Bus Service Improvement Plan scheme, travelling with us is now easier and smarter than ever. Tap on Tap Off uses contactless payments to automatically calculate and cap standard adult bus fares, so you never spend more than the maximum day or weekly fare on our bus network.

Once you reach the daily or weekly cap, you'll pay NOTHING for your next journeys during the same day or week. The more you tap, the more you'll save!

Daily Cap£12.00Weekly Cap£30.00

Tap on Tap off only works for adult fare paying passengers travelling on our local bus services - school bus services and football coaches NC4 and NC5 are not part of Tap on Tap Off.

5-19s should still purchase tickets via our app or from the driver.

Here’s how it works...

When you get on the bus, tap your contactless card or mobile device onto the ticket machine beside the bus driver. Wait for the ticket machine to beep. You do not need to tell the bus driver your destination, but feel free to have a chat with them if you need some help!

When you reach your destination, tap the same contactless card or mobile device onto the tap off reader near the exit door. You will hear it beep. The machine has now recorded where you travelled to.

Your fare will be automatically calculated. Just do this every time you travel and watch the savings roll in!

Do I have to use Tap on Tap off?
You can still pay by contactless card, cash or through the Sanders Coaches app if you wish.

How much will I be charged?
Every time you travel, your fare will be automatically calculated based on where you tapped on and off the bus. You will never pay more than £12.00 per day or £30.00 per week. Currently, most adult single bus fares are capped at £3.00 as part of an HM Government scheme. You can check your previous journeys and how much they cost by registering your card on the Sanders Coaches app and using the Contactless Journeys function.

Do I need to register my card?
No, just start using the card. If you want to, you can register your card on the Sanders Coaches app and use the Contactless Journeys function to keep track of your journeys.

Can I use more than one payment card?
No, you must always use the same card to tap on and off. If you use different cards, you will not benefit from the cap.

Can more than one person travel on one card?
Each contactless payment method will only work for one person. If you are travelling as a pair or in a group, please purchase a ticket from your driver or use our app.

I forgot to tap off, what should I do?
If you hop off the bus then realise you forgot to tap off, you will be charged the full fare to the end of the route. If you are concerned you may have been overcharged, feel free to contact our Customer Services team.

Why can 5-19s not benefit from Tap on Tap Off?
The reader has no way of knowing how old you are. All fares are therefore calculated based on a standard adult fare. The driver may be able to issue a cheaper fare for 5-19s than the reader will automatically calculate.

I have a Concessionary Travel pass, do I need to do anything different?
You do not need to do anything different. There is no need for you to tap off.

There is not a Tap Off reader on my bus, what should I do?
You can also tap back off at the ticket machine beside the bus driver.

Will Tap on Tap Off work with a joint bank account?
Yes, it will! Each card will be treated separately by the Tap On Tap Off readers, but bill from the same account.

How will payments show on my bank statement?
Payments for journeys made using Tap on Tap Off may show separately on your bank statement, but the total when added together will not exceed £12.00 daily or £30.00 weekly provided you correctly tapped on and off each bus.
