Changes to Aylsham area school buses from Monday 14th October 2024

Posted:

From Monday 14th October 2024 we are making changes to Aylsham High School buses 43A, 43B and 88 to better match increased passenger numbers this academic year.

At the beginning on September, when schools returned for the new academic year, we experienced an increase in the number of Aylsham High School students out of catchment wanting to use school bus services from areas including North Walsham, Hainford and Horsford. As a separate issue, we also have had the double deck bus used on route 88 damaged on numerous occasions by low and overgrown trees along the route.

From Monday 14th October 2024, we have re-routed school buses 43A, 43B and 88 to firstly to better match demand and secondly to avoid any further bus damage.

43A - Bus will no longer serve Hevingham (Brick Kiln Road and Nelson Way areas). All students from 43A will be transferred onto re-routed 88 which will cater for this area instead. Parents are advised to await contact from Norfolk County Council, who will issue new passes.

43B - We had been running two buses on this service to provide enough seats. This is no longer necessary, so all students both in-catchment and out of catchment will be travelling on the same bus. Please note that some students in Hevingham will be transferred onto re-routed 88 which will cater for this area instead. Parents are advised to await contact from Norfolk County Council, who will issue new passes.

88 - This service is completely re-routed to avoid low trees which have been damaging buses and provide additional capacity in Hevingham. All stops in North Walsham and Swanton Abbott will still be served (please check timetable), before the bus travels via Coltishall, Horstead, Hainford and Hevingham. Pickup times will be slightly earlier to allow for this. Burgh is served by bus 2.

Please check our timetables page in the coming days for revised timings.
