Itinerary
THURSDAY Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to South
Wales and arriving late afternoon.
FRIDAY This morning the coach takes us into Cardiff where we have the day
free to explore Wales' exciting capital. This vibrant and cosmopolitan city has undergone
enormous regeneration over the past decade or so, its traditional attractions like the
fairy tale castle are now complemented by the iconic Millennium Stadium. During our stay
in Cardiff we include a visit to the Castle. Alongside the high street shops and
department stores there is a selection of lovely Victorian arcades containing a wide array
of specialist shops and designer boutiques? Late afternoon we return to the hotel.
SATURDAY Today we head into the valleys and visit the Rhondda Heritage
Park to discover Black Gold and learn about bygone times. With an underground ride, lively
stories by former miners, reconstructed village streets and fascinating exhibits, an
illuminating insight into colliery life is afforded. From the Rhondda we head north to the
Brecon Beacons and enjoy a ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway, one of the Great Little
Trains of Wales, and afterwards we make our way back to Cardiff.
SUNDAY Today an excursion to the enchanting Museum of Welsh Life at St.
Fagans. This fascinating museum shows authentic dwellings from different eras, from humble
2000 year old mud huts to an impressive Elizabethan Mansion. You have the chance to see a
potter, a weaver, a wood turner, a baker, a tanner and many more craftspeople at work.
Later we leave for a short ride to Cardiff Bay where the views are great and there will be
plenty of opportunity to explore and relax before returning to our hotel.
MONDAY After breakfast we leave for our journey home
