
This is a new tour for 2010 based in the delightful former spa town of
Strathpeffer and surrounded by beautiful Highland scenery.
The hotels
On the first and last nights of the tour overnight accommodation will be in Northern
England. Your room will have private bathroom, television and tea & coffee making
facilities.
The main tour hotel is the 3 star rated Ben Wyviss Hotel in Strathpeffer.
It is an imposing hotel built in 1 877 and stands in its own extensive landscaped grounds
in the centre of the Victorian spa town, The hotel provides spacious lounges with open
fires, relaxing bar and lounge and the Jacobite restaurant. Bedrooms are tastefully
decorated; all are en suite and have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee
making facilities. The hotel has a lift.

Itinerary
SATURDAY Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Northern
England for overnight stay, we will have comfort stops on the way.
SUNDAY We continue north through central Scotland into the Highlands to
arrive late afternoon.
MONDAY This morning we tour through some of the best Highland scenery. We
head west along Strath Bran to Kinlochewe where we follow the shores of beautiful Loch
Maree to Gairloch, on the west coast. From here we head via Poolewe to Aultbea, Gruinard
Bay and Little Loch Broom. We stop at the magnificent awe inspiring Corrieshalloch Gorge.
The views from the suspension bridge across the gorge are stunning and not to be missed.
From here we make our way back past Loch Glascarnoch to Garve and Strathpeffer.
TUESDAY A free day for you to explore the delights of Strathpeffer, way
back in Victorian times this spa town was one of Europe's most important spas, so much so
that it had a direct train service from London. Sadly the trains are gone, but the
renovated station buildings house a visitor centre, Museum of Childhood and Craft
Workshops.
WEDNESDAY We head north today along the shore of the Cromarty Firth to
Bonar Bridge and the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre, where we take a break. From here we
make our way to stunning Dunrobin Castle and Gardens. In the castle move through centuries
of habitation by Dukes and Earls of Sutherland and enjoy the period treasures in the many
magnificent rooms. Dramatically set between castle and sea, Dunrobin's great walled
gardens are a delight. To finish the day we make our way to nearby Golspie to catch the
Scotrail train back to Dingwall, rejoining the coach back to the hotel.
THURSDAY Our day begins with a ride into the vibrant and busy city of
Inverness, the ancient Highland capital. We have the morning to explore the centre, maybe
a spot of retail therapy, take a stroll by the river or just sit and relax and watch the
world go by. This afternoon we make our way to Loch Ness and the Clansman Harbour. Here we
join Jacobite Cruises for a cruise on Loch Ness. Later we return to Strathpeffer through
Beauly and Muir of Ord
FRIDAY Leaving Strathpeffer and the Highlands we make our way south to
the border region for our overnight stay - dinner, bed and breakfast
SATURDAY After breakfast we continue on our way home.
