This is one of our most popular tours and a lot of our customers come back with us year
after year. The tour coves a variety of splendid scenery, contrasting countryside,
historic towns, rugged coastlines, rolling hills and quaint northern villages. The ancient
Kingdom of Northumbria offers some of the most striking unspoilt beauty in England.
The Hotel
The Victoria Hotel is situated at the top of Main Street in the coastal village of
Bamburgh overlookin the village green just up the street from the magnificent castle on
the beach. The hotel offers a genuine warm and friendly welcome. All rooms are en suite
and well equipped.
Itinerary
SUNDAY We depart from our homes and travel to Northumberland arriving late
afternoon.
MONDAY Today our excursion takes us across the causeway to Holy Island
and the mysterious Lindisfarne Castle, visible from Bamburgh, then we make our way to
Seahouses where you can enjoy an optional boat trip (not to missed, say our customers).
The itinerary for this may change due to the tides.
TUESDAY The villages of Ford and Etal, a vast rural estate with visitor
centre, steam railway, castles, paintings, cafe and the Black Bull pub, Northumberland's
only thatched pub, are our first destinations today. From here we head to Coldstream and
continue along the Tweed valley to Kelso. Kelso is the home of Floors Castle, the largest
inhabited castle in Scotland.
WEDNESDAY We have a leisurely coastal drive making our way to Alnwick
with its mighty castle.
THURSDAY We journey through beautiful countryside to the capital of
Coquetdale, Rothbury, which was once a popular health resort. We will also have a visit to
Otterburn where you can visit the mill before we make our way back to Bamburgh for a free
afternoon.
FRIDAY After breakfast we make our way back to Norfolk
stopping for lunch on the way.
Please be reminded that all excursions are subject to change due to weather or local
conditions.
