Itinerary
MONDAY Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to South
London and arriving late afternoon. TUESDAY This morning we have a drive
to Greenwich Village, where you have chance to explore - National Maritime Museum,
Trafalgar Tavernor Greenwich Park. Later we sail from Greenwich Pier and enjoy a cruise
along the River Thames to Waterloo Pier, seeing many famous landmarks on the way. Here we
change our mode of transport as we take flight with a ride on the fabulous London Eye,
with fantastic views all over the city. WEDNESDAY A complete contrast
today as we leave for a sightseeing tour with Royal Connections, we will see the Tower of
London, St James Palace and Buckingham Palace this morning. After a break and time for
lunch in Covent Garden, the afternoon we visit Kensington Palace, former home of the late
Diana, Princess of Wales. A visit to the State Apartments brings alive the age of
elegance. See the beautifully restored Kings Gallery, admire the Royal Ceremonial Dress
Collection, climb the King's Grand Staircase, learn about the etiquette of dressing for
court. Kensington Palace is one of the best loved of the Royal Palaces and you will leave
with fond memories of your visit.
THURSDAY Our trip today takes us first to the Old Guys Hospital Operating
Theatre Museum, where we will learn about Victorian surgery, culminating in a
demonstration given by a '19th century surgeon' - there were no anaesthetics or
antiseptics in those days! From here we make our way across the river to the famous
Spitalfields Market - a delightful haven of craft and antique stalls, and we have time for
a good browse. In Victorian times the East end of London was blighted with lots of poverty
and hardship. Just across the road from the market is the Ten Bells Pub. It was here that
the notorious Jack the Ripper met his unfortunate victims, and this afternoon we have a
tour of Jack's haunts to learn more about one of the country's great unsolved mysteries.
FRIDAY After breakfast we leave and begin our homeward journey
